2000 - 2016
Rear Window, as in Hitchcock’s film, or how we look and not what we look at. A project begun in 2000 in New York, shooting views from windows of the houses of some friends who put me up and thanking them with the gift of a print. The photographs were created by superimposing two exposures on a single plate, one shot in daytime and the other at night. The result can be achieved only by the camera, while the human eye cannot simultaneously perceive two distant moments. This expedient deeply modifies the ordinary, or better, “infra-ordinary” view into something new, special, “extraordinary” above all for those who inhabit that view.
