Ora e Qui

2016

Ora e Qui is a site-specific work created for the Museo del Novecento. The installation consists of eight photographs printed on vinyl placed on the windows of the Sala Fontana, creating a harmony between the inside and the outside. Masterful examples are the Duomo and its square, attracting with a sort of magnetism the Museum to become an integral part. The work was created to overturn the function of the museum itself. This – nucleus of visions par excellence – turns into an observer, directing its gaze outward, investigating what happens outside both in terms of time and space. By creating a short circuit between reality and image, the two look at each other insistently, tending to recognize each other, without ever corresponding entirely. The photographs, in fact, obtained thanks to a double exposure, and which overlaps night and day on the same negative, create a powerful estrangement which can never correspond to reality because it contains many. With the now and the here, we compare ourselves with the minimum unit of time and the minimum unit of space which expand the possibilities of the gaze, just as the photographic medium itself intends to do.
